Revolutionizing metalwork

TENADO METAL and BroCAD

Lukas Brohammer has a very special goal: “Simplify workflows in CAD design and work preparation.” With his company BroCAD, he works as a service provider in the metal industry and helps other colleagues to transfer their drawings and ideas to the screen . This not only saves everyone involved time, money and nerves, but also ensures that metalworking is gradually becoming more digital. TENADO METALL is always reliable at his side.

March 2020, the beginning of the corona pandemic in Germany and the beginning of a new chapter for Lukas Brohammer. The qualified master metalworker and carpenter founds BroCAD Automation and Training, a service company that specializes in offering CAD designs as contract work. A new approach that hits the mark, especially in times of a pandemic. Because working digitally saves time and of course requires fewer contacts.

Lukas Brohammer processes his orders with TENADO METALL 2D and 3D. The CAD programs are perfectly tailored to the metal trade and impress with industry-specific functions that make work easier for users. Generators for gates, fences, gratings, stairs, connections, posts and railings, tools for sheet metal processing and unfolding, welding function, extensive libraries with thousands of parts and of course convincing display options as renderings or 3D PDF. TENADO METALL 2D and TENADO METALL 3D work hand in hand for even greater efficiency. All 2D drawings already contain the necessary material properties so that they can also be displayed and processed as a 3D model.

Lukas Brohammer often gets inquiries from his metal construction colleagues via his own Facebook group or by email. Then there is an appointment, often directly a video call, in which you can look at the project directly together via the split monitor. Digital data exchange, digital meetings, digital work. From the workshop to the screen in just a few steps. The diverse interfaces of the CAD software for the metal trade help, of course, as Brohammer also knows: “I have customers who give me relatively well-developed drafts and existing models. Or I work with a scan or a FlexiJet measurement. But some also come completely blank, perhaps with an allowance as a sketch.”

"A super good new function for TENADO METALL 2D is the PDF import. Just import a drawing, how long have I wanted this? If you get a PDF from the architect and the dimensions are missing, I can import the PDF into TENADO METALL 2D and simply extract the dimensions.”

Then Brohammer gets to work. From the available measurement data and an idea, he develops a CAD model, the data of which he can then easily pass on to colleagues in the workshop. Always including a detailed evaluation with material lists, workshop drawings and sawing lists.

Such functions are particularly helpful for interesting orders such as this fire brigade training tower for the company Köhler & Aye Stahl- und Metallbau GbR from Handewitt. “It’s kind of like a stair tower, but with a balcony, facade and railings for abseiling, hatches in the floor and a door with a mini hatch in it to practice door openings. Statically a completely different load than one is normally familiar with,” he describes the project. Many small individual details and special functions that require precise work from the designer and clarity from the program.

“I see the advantage of this digital work in that I have data that I can process further if the customer comes at some point and needs spare parts, for example. I have complete documentation of what I built there. I can order materials much more easily. That is flawless.”
Lukas Brohammer, BroCAD

Flexibility, comprehensive work documentation and reliable planning, BroCAD and TENADO METALL provide all of this to their customers. Something that more and more customers expect from metalworkers, says the CAD professional: “Metalwork is also becoming more and more of a planning office. People are asking more and more from the individual craftsmen, it has to be much more comprehensive, you have to be able to deliver much more.”
